Agrital offers rolling processes for sheet metal, tubes, and special profiles such as angle profiles.
Rolling is performed using CNC machines to ensure process repeatability.
Rolling completes the company’s offerings for cold plastic deformation of materials, including sheet metal bending and tube bending.
sheet metal calendering
This operation is performed with a 4-roller CNC machine. Due to the size of the upper roller, the minimum diameter is 360 mm. The maximum working width is 3 meters.
In addition to traditional cylindrical bending, it is also possible to create cones or truncated cones. To create a cone, the central rollers must be tilted so that they do not run parallel to the outer rollers. This function is controlled by the CNC.
tube calendering
Tubular rolling refers to round, rectangular, and square tubes, as well as the shaped profiles typical of the cabins we produce. The parts may be laser-cut first, pre-drilled, as long as they do not deform during the rolling process. Otherwise, they must be drilled only later.
Unlike sheet metal rolling, the process is more delicate, as the tube is a hollow element with uneven resistance to deformation across its cross-section.
A dedicated machine is used, different from sheet metal rolling, but still numerically controlled.
calendering of special profiles
This is the most challenging type of roll-bending because the profile cross-section is not uniform with respect to the deformation axis. Therefore, theoretically, it would be necessary to apply different forces simultaneously to different areas of the profile, which is clearly impractical.
So, to avoid profile twisting, the first step is gradual, i.e., achieving the required radius in multiple passes, and the guide rollers must be preloaded to compensate for the deformation.
The right balance between all these aspects lies in the company’s know-how; no particular secret, but rather the experience of those who, like us, have been rolling for years.
